Milestone Events

On December 29, 2004, CGWIC established its Science and Technology Cooperation Department.

On December 27, 2004, China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CAST) organised a CGWIC restructuring meeting at the Diaoyutai state guesthouse in Beijing to establish CGWIC as a wholly owned CAST subsidiary.

Wang Haibo was appointed CGWIC President, Hua Chongzhi was appointed Vice President, Zhao Lijun was appointed CFO and Liu Tao was appointed Supervisor General.

On December 15, 2004, CGWIC signed the NigSatCom communications satellite program contract with Nigeria's National Space Research and Development Agency in the Nigerian capital of Abuja. According to the contract, CGWIC will be the primary contractor for the program, and will provide Nigeria with a DFH-4 communications satellite, launch services including an LM-3B launch vehicle and two separate ground-based operations support service stations in Nigeria's capital, Abuja, and in Kashir, Xinjiang, China, as well as training services for Nigerian technical staff.

On November 25, 2004, CGWIC signed an in-orbit delivery contract for the APSTAR-6B satellite with Hong Kong's APT Satellite Communications Co. Ltd. According to the contract, CGWIC will be the primary contractor, and will use an LM-3B launch vehicle to send the DFH-4 platform-based APSTAR-6B communications satellite into fixed orbit.
