China’s 22nd Recoverable Science Satellite Successfully Launched

At 16:45 on August 29, 2005, Beijing time, China successfully launched its 22nd recoverable science and technology experimental satellite from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwest China on board a LM-2D launch vehicle.

This mission not only marks the 87th flight of a Long March launch vehicle, but also the 45th consecutive successful Long March launch since October 1996.

Data from the Xi’an Satellite Control Center shows that the satellite has been accurately put into its predetermined orbit and is operating normally.

The satellite will be used for scientific research, land surveying, mapping, and experiments in outer space. Information acquired by the satellite and the experimental results will be applied in the field of science and technology, and social economic construction.
