From Jan.28 to 30, 2007, CGWIC representatives participated in the inaugural Seminar on China-U.S High-technology and Strategic Trade held by China’s Ministry of Commerce and the U.S. Department of Commerce. More than 260 representatives from the Chinese and U.S. governments, high-tech companies and trade experts participated in the seminar. The U.S. government sent a team of 14 officials headed by Christopher Padilla, Assistant Secretary, Department of Commerce.
During this high-level and large-scale high technology export seminar between the two countries, China and the United States expressed their views on the control of high technology exports to China. During the seminar, CGWIC gained an in-depth understanding of basic U.S. considerations governing U.S. high-tech exports to China. CGWIC’s representative provided an overview of CGWIC’s commercial satellite launch services and explained CGWIC’s active promotion of healthy China-U.S. strategic trade through its provision of commercial launch services for peaceful use, for which it had been sanctioned by having its assets frozen for no discernable reason. CGWIC will continue to communicate with the relevant U.S. entities to clarify the incorrect assertion that “CGWIC has continued to provide goods to Iran’s missile program”. CGWIC sincerely hopes that it will continue to contribute to the healthy development of China-U.S. strategic trade.
