On 8 April 2010, the Long March Users’ Conference was held in Xichang, on occasion of the 20th anniversary of the launch of Hughes-built Asiasat-1 communications satellite by a Long March 3 launch vehicle, the very first Long March launch vehicle’s international commercial launch. More than 30 representatives from International satellite operators, satellite manufacturers, insurance underwriters and brokers attended the Conference. The Conference also had the attendance of the representatives from China space industry. China Great Wall Industry Corporation (CGWIC), China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology (CALT) and China Satellite Launch & Tracking Control General (CLTC) delivered presentations on the development of Long March launch services and the prospects of China’s space industry. After the Conference section, the delegates visited the Xichang Satellite Launch Center (XSLC).
According to the attendees, the Conference is a complete success. They are impressed by the tremendous changes occurred in Long March launch services, especially the high reliability of Long March launch vehicle, the transparency and openness of Long March launch services and the modern launch facilities.
The Conference was hosted by China Great Wall Industry Corporation, the sole organization authorized by the Chinese Government to provide commercial launch services, satellite and aerospace technology application products in international market.
